HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That's why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refugee.

8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next country; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!

Old is gold. This maxim may well be true with the older people but for their physical and maybe mental impairment. To keep their quality of life in good shape, Clubs are formed to involve them in physical and mental activities.

The Senior Citizens' Club (SCC) of YMCA Kuala Lumpur is a voluntary organization duly constituted under the YMCA Kuala Lumpur. It was formed in 1984 with a few senior members. It has since then grown progressively that at one point it reached a significant figure of 850 members. Additional applications had to be turned down for want of space. The Lee Kong Chian Hall in the YMCA premises has been the venue for all the club meetings.

The main objectives of the club are:
::: To organise activities and develop programmes for the benefit and well being of the members
::: To harness their experiences and utilize their services whenever needed
::: To hold seminars and talks beneficial to the members
:::
To promote better understanding among the members.
::: To arrange trips and tours to places of importance inside and outside the country
:::
To raise funds by way of subscriptions and donations to be used for the benefit of members and also to disburse to charitable organizations such as Old Folks' Homes and other welfare organizations.

The Club meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays every week except on public holidays. The running of the Club, in general, is governed by the SCC Club rules and regulations. The ongoing weekly activities include Fan Dance, Tai Chi excerise, Line Dancing, and Social Dancing.

There are also recreational classes that one can join such as Qigong, Chinese Brush Painting, Harmonica and singing,

A lot of importance is given to execrise and dancing which is an integral part of their activities, for it improves blood circulation, strengthens body muscles, helps to reduce blood fat levels and relieves muscle tension caused by undue stress.
