Hearing and speech impaired Tan finds his niche in baking
Sharing the good news: Ming Fei and Bao sign to their friends to inform them that they are married.

MALACCA: For mute couple Lee Ming Fei and his Shanghai bride Bao Mingzhen, love certainly conquers all.

Ming Fei, 28, who runs a car tint business at Bandar Hilir, got to know Bao, 28 via a website meant for the deaf.

Using the video chat facility, they communicated using sign language.

And despite the signs in both countries not being fully standardised, Ming Fei was able to quickly woo Bao, who agreed to marry him a month after he proposed with a stalk of bunga siantan .

Ming Fei was hit by the love bug, which even made him lose his appetite. He then pleaded with his uncle Lee Son Lee to take him to China.

Last September, Lee took Ming Fei and another nephew to China.

The rest, as they say, is history.

On Nov 30, the couple registered their marriage here. The reception is scheduled for Feb 4.

Penning their thoughts on paper, Ming Fei pledged to care for Bao and said they planned to have two children.

Bao, in response, described Ming Fei as a good man.

Ming Fei then demonstrated to reporters how he had proposed to Bao on the Internet.

The couple have been getting closer, with Bao often cooking for her husband and also helping him at his shop.
