The Signing Ceremony between the Embassy of Japan and KL YMCA for the project for Deaf Communication and Information Technology Training Centre on 16 March 2004

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, offers a Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects, designed to support projects proposed by various bodies such as non-government organizations and local government authorities.

The signing ceremony started promptly upon the arrival of His Excellency Mr. Masaki Konishi, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia who delivered his address. Among the embassy personnel present were Mr. Yutaka Yokoi, Minister / Deputy Chief, Mr. Shin'ichi Hosono, Economic Counselor, Mr. Masaru Aniya, Head of Japan Information Service (JIS), Mr. Shigeo Okamoto, Second Secretary, Mr. Susumu Yoshida, Researcher for Public Relations.

The PMY members delivered a song in Sign Language and a Mime on computers and IT by Anne Laura. Mr. Konishi expressed that he was very much impressed with the facial and body gestures which he added, we often forget to use. The YMCA was represented by Mr. Albert Chong, Dr. PO Thomas, Mr. Wan Thong Choong, Mr. Foo Fang Lim, Mr. K.Ariyathavaratnam and staff.
