Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM) is an independent and separate language. It has its own structure and grammar. The language involves the use of hand, body language, and facial expression when you want to engage in conversation with Deaf People, especially in Malaysia. The course provides you with insight into the lifestyle and culture of Deaf People in Malaysia.

COURSE FEE: RM310.00*/course [This is a seasonal course. If due demand or interest is shown towards this course, YMCA KL will re-implement the course according to a minimum number of interested Students. This Course is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of BIM.
Visual Gesture Communication emphasises on developing one’s ability to ‘think’ in pictures and build expressive and receptive skills. The aim of Visual Gesture Communication is to develop capabilities in non-verbal, visual gesture communication, studying gestures as a form of communication and basis for visual language. Students will achieve a comfortable communication level with expressive and receptive sign communication skills. Finger Spelling will introduce students to Alphabets & Numbers to eventually achieve approximately 400 to 500 Vocabulary signs.

This Course is designed for students who have completed Level 1 . The aim of BIM Level 2 is to develop capabilities in Vocabulary, Dialogue and Understanding & Making Sentences. Students will achieve a comfortable communication level with expressive and receptive use of dialogue and sentences.

This Course is designed for students who have completed Level 1 and Level 2 and/or with knowledge of BIM.
The aim of BIM Level 3 is to develop capabilities in sentences for communication with Deaf Members using Classifiers.

NOTICE TO STUDENTS
Please keep in mind before you register.
1. Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants with at least 75% attendance.
2. Interested participants are required to confirm their registration at least two weeks prior to the scheduled commencement date. Registration accepted only on full payment of the Course Fee.
3. Pusat Majudiri ‘Y’ For the Deaf also conducts customised Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM) Courses for Groups with specific needs.
4. Commencement of class is subject to a minimum of twelve (12) students.
5. Courses may be rescheduled at the discretion of YMCA KL.
